Regulatory Compliance

NREA offers its members legal assistance in complying with the many federal and state regulations that impact the electric industry. Our Regulatory Counsel, Dave Jarecke, with Blankenau Wilmoth Jarecke LLP, provides the following services:

  1. Drafting uniform policies and programs for our member-systems to assist them in complying with federal and state regulations;
  2. Reviews recordkeeping programs to insure documentary compliance;
  3. Assists NREA's Job Training and Safety personnel in the development and implementation of training programs;
  4. Advises member-systems on general regulatory requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), the Department of Transportation (DOT) and other federal regulatory bodies, as well as the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Department of Labor (DOL) and other state agencies;
  5. Provides counsel on federal and state employment matters;
  6. Monitors and analyzes current, pending and proposed state and federal regulations which may impact member-systems;
  7. Travels to member-systems to conduct compliance audits and for consultation purposes;
  8. Serves as a liaison between member-systems and governmental regulatory bodies;
  9. Researches regulatory subjects and attends conferences and seminars to advise member-systems on regulatory matters and other industry issues; and
  10. Attends NREA-sponsored meetings to provide updates for member-system directors, managers, and other employees on regulatory matters.
